How are you in the new decade? Are you feeling fresh and ready or rather a bit in a fog of things?
After two weeks of family time, Rafa-kids is slowly getting back on track. It’s been rough getting back into the school – working routine, but we are doing better each week.
It’s my first blog post in 2020, so, first of all, I wish you a healthy, creative and positive New Year.
In January, I always need cleaning and organizing our home. It means getting everything out of the wardrobes and doing housekeeping. I know it doesn’t sound like an exciting thing to do, but believe me, it will feel good when it’s done. It not only gives me a clean house but also refreshes my mind! That’s why I wanted to inspire and motivate you today.
I was listing very recently to a podcast of Lidewij Edelkoort “Why Doing Less Is More” here. I highly recommend it to you. I think it’s nothing new to say that we need to rethink our habits. Our planet is tired of human overproduction and consumerism. The good thing is that there are exciting things ahead of us.
(…) “When a design is really well-conceived, and when a designer has put a lot of energy in this object, this object starts to come alive as well. So it’s about choosing things in your life which are relevant, which are necessary for you—not just functional, also emotional—but which talk to you, where furniture becomes like a pet, where you have a real relationship with things. And because you choose them so carefully and precisely, that narrows down your needs and the pleasure you then derive from this is much greater. (…)
I chose this beautiful teenager’s room as an illustration of well organized and minimal space. Shall we start?
There are just a few essential elements your child needs in their room. You would be surprised that we don’t need that much.A bed to sleep, wardrobe/ storage to keep all the belongings organized, and a creative corner for study. Sounds simple? It just is. Teenagers often aim to have a bit more sophisticated rooms. Let’s make it easy for them to clean and keen the room organized.
We have selected for this room the H dresser with eight large drawers. Above the dresser, there is a rail which can be used in different ways. I’m sure teens will have individual ideas about how to make it personal. It could be a selection of garments hanged in there, jewelry, collection of caps. All is possible. Personalized storage – I think that’s how you can win your teen.
Then let’s talk The BED.
Rafa-kids A teen bed is an elegant and minimal bed. Let your teen decide how to put it in a room. As a day bed, next to a wall or free-standing in the center of the space. Teens love to hang out and chill in their rooms. We chose stonewashed bed linen for this room. This set has a beautiful texture that doesn’t need to be ironed. You can set it loose on the bed, and it will look super cool! It’s a relaxed vibe, that will make your teen room look cozy and inviting. That’s what they need.
Then the study corner. It doesn’t have to be a place of torture. K desk is a sophisticated piece of furniture that your child can be proud of. Give it a try. Making over a kid’s bedroom is a great experience, so get creative! You can also turn the makeover into a fun activity you and your teenager share together. Is that a good plan?
Selected WHITE FURNITURE from Rafa-kids collection
We kept asking ourself and our kids what are the problems a wardrobe needs to solve? How to make it work playfully so a child will be happy to use it? Can we make it lower than the most available wardrobes on the market but still manage to fit a lot of storage?
Are you looking for the perfect furniture for the newborn’s room? Rafa-kids designed the dresser with 8 drawers so you will have enough space for everything….
