I’m always excited when I see stylish houses which also show children’s rooms. I feel that children’s world is still being hidden behind closed doors, which is a great shame. They can and should be part of our houses and deserve our attention too.
This beautiful home of Sarah Pickersgill-Brown, and her family is a fantastic example of that! It is probably one of the reasons why Sarah has so many followers on her The Bear Cub Club Instagram account. We can be inspired by her love for interior and styling a lot.
Not plastic fantastic > create a STYLISH and ELEGANT home WITH kids.
Can you believe that she has two small boys running around, and still, she keeps her strong sense of style? Well done, Sarah. I hope other parents can see that having children around doesn’t mean we have to give up style! Plastic and colourful toys are not the only way to go 😉
This Melbourne house is home to Sarah, her husband Ben and their three-year-old twin boys, Caspian and Quill. Just peek into their world, such a light and soft interior. I find light one of the essential elements at home – the bigger window and higher ceilings – the better. An open floor plan makes me most happy, but I can imagine it is not everyone’s cup of thee.
> STYLE IT
The main living area connects with an open-plan kitchen and dining room. I know this is very ambitious in family life! As you don’t want to see dirty dishes piling up and the clutter in the kitchen. Sarah keeps it in serene style in grey, blush and light wood tones against white walls. Very brave! Additions of pots, baskets and vases give the space such a great vibe.
Sarah says: “I choose a lot of blush tones for the practicality in terms of wear and tear. It’s a very calming colour to live in.”
Keeping your furniture in one or similar tones has a great advantage, as this is an excellent base for any styling. You can then play with changing the accessories, which I’m sure Sarah loves to do constantly, and what’s makes her happy. This way, you don’t get bored with the space too quickly. I feel peaceful just looking at this interior!
Sarah decided to give her boys some of Rafa-kids furniture. The iconic F bunk bed and L shelf, more about it:
F bunk bed for 6+ The iconic F bunk bed is so cool to sleep in; it saves space and has a light and elegant design. The F bunk bed has two ladders so that you can position it in any corner of the room.
L shelf Eye catcher for any boring wall. The wooden curve detail is very special. Its simplicity and modern aesthetics will pass the test of time. Your child will be happy to decorate it even in adulthood, or you can adopt it to your bedroom later on 😉
> KID’S PARADISE
The boys are lucky enough to enjoy two playrooms! What a luxury! One is downstairs next to the living room and the other upstairs with the bedrooms. Double fun, as the boys have a dedicated space for play on either level of the house. Sarah keeps control of every single detail when designing this space. The bedroom upstairs with the iconic Rafa-kids F bunk bed, it’s an absolute show-stopper! This playful corner is pure perfection. I don’t know where even to start.
The soft carpet or a rug is often key in a children’s space, as they play a lot on the floor. Sarah decided to keep it simple, but the oversized wobbly leaf rug adds another level to the floor space. The wallpaper with monochrome colours holds the room together and cares for the soft vibe. You don’t need any more eye-catching elements. Modern and elegant F bunk bed in white fits here perfectly. Keeping the accessories in grey, wood and natural tones gives the space a serene atmosphere.
I would say > Invite Nature to your Home Decor! Because let’s face it – Nature is so beautiful.
