How are you all doing in the New Year 2019?
Yes, we are moving !!!!
We still can’t believe it’s real, and that this amazing space is OURS. It’s the best start of a year I could ever wish for. It’s like your wake up in your dream and realize it’s your life. We are now busy with packing our old place, we sell and donate a lot of things and are ready to start our new adventure. The new space is much bigger than the previous one, so I’m looking forward to creating a new home for us. It’s super exciting!!!!
Can I tell you a bit about our new home?
You probably noticed on the pictures that our Loft has a powerful industrial character, with exposed construction. This place was in the past a warehouse for Rotterdam Customs. We are so lucky to have this beautiful dark steel doors in the entire apartment. They match so well with the spirit of the space. We decided to bring the concrete floor, which we believe fits the best with this kind of industrial Loft interiors.
Boys finally will have their rooms. I’m so excited to help them out with that. My 12years old still likes my ideas! Do you remember my Blog post about how I am planning his room? We will have a bedroom with a separate bathroom. Can’t wait! Then in the middle, there is one open space to cook, relax and work! Our family like the open-floor plan way of living, but I think it will be a change to create a cozy and welcoming home in such an industrial high space.
Our taste and lifestyle are very minimal and practical. We often laugh about our architect’s weakness, which is perfectionism and details-obsession. I wish we could bring a new spirit into this place and at the same time to our life.
I have a feeling this Loft needs a lot of textures and layers to give us the comfort we are looking for. You can see on the mood board that we already set color and materials for the space to be sure we will create a well-balanced interior. Can you imagine, that even we know each other with Arek for more than 20 years, we still fight about our choices and decisions? Arek finds my black&white love indeed to sterile, and doesn’t always appreciate the simplicity of it. His weak spot is wood, the warmth, and natural beauty which it brings to your home. I think it’s just a start of something extraordinary! I hope you would be glad to see more in the coming weeks.
