Today I have for you the third interview in our series Q&A with Rafa-kids customers. We are lucky to visit the original home in Amsterdam! Be prepared for some beautiful color inspiration and a lot of joy with three-year-old fashionista Ezra.
Hello Sladjana, thank you for accepting our invitation to a little talk!
In Rafa-kids Q&A series, we would like to know better the families living behind beautiful pictures. If I think about your Instagram account @ezi_mezi
I immediately see a brave mom who uses dark colors in their son’s room and let her boy to grow a long hair like a pro!
I’m excited to have the chance to ask you a few questions and get some secrets to unfold!
1. Could you shortly introduce yourself and tell us about where do you live and with whom?
My name is Sladjana, I’m 34 years old, and I live in Amsterdam with my boyfriend (man friend ?), our three-year-old son and a British shorthair called Brownie.
We live in a small apartment from the thirties, and even though I wish for a bigger space, I love our neighborhood!
2. Do you like to raise your child in Amsterdam, and what are your favorite places to go with Ezra?
Yes! I love it here! I see Amsterdam more like a village than a city because of its architecture. We love to live outside, and Amsterdam offers a lot of great opportunities, and I think there is something for everyone.
We now automatically visit more kid-friendly places such as Artis and Nemo, but we love to visit City museum and local coffee places and do what we would do if Ezra weren’t here. The city is busy, but we try not to see Ezra as a limitation to live the life we wanted. He’s now used to it and loves to go on an adventure with us. Sometimes when we don’t have inspiration, we just take our bikes and see where we will end up!
3. Can you tell us a bit about your son? He seems like a very active and outgoing boy.
Ezra is very curious. I like to treat him as a grown-up, and that works for us. I see him as my friend, and luckily he understands that too. He is much bigger for his age, so people mostly think that he is older. But he handles it very well! He is very outgoing and social and makes new friends within a few minutes. Last but not least, he is a real daredevil! And it scares me so many times, but I try not to show it off ? I think it’s amazing because I as a kid, was a total opposite.
4. I noticed you have a lot of passion for fashion and design. Do you have any background in these fields?
Yes! Since I know, I exist. My mother is a seamstress, and clothes and customers surrounded me because she was making pieces upon request. When we moved to The Netherlands, I was beyond happy to be accepted at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, where I got my 3D fashion design degree.
5. Let’s talk a bit about Ezra’s wardrobe. I’m also a mom of boys and always find it challenging to find a playful and colorful way to dress my kids. I can see you have a passion for it, can you tell us more about it?
For a few years, I was looking for “our” style. Influenced by many brands, people on Instagram (I get a lot of inspiration there!). But now I’m happy that I can follow my heart and not care what other people think. I like clothing with a story when there is a collection with a concept/feeling behind. I’m happy that I’ve found the brands that cover every single thing that is important to me. A story, fabric used, the fit, identity, and sustainability! The Animals Observatory is my forever favorite, and I can quickly put one of each from their new collections without even seeing it! I also love Bobo Choses and Tiny Cottons!
6. I can also see that your son’s interior room changes a lot. I suspect you are the one rearranging everything. (!) Are you making all the decisions yourself or does Ezra have some own input too? What are your favorite elements of his room?
I do change a lot. Somehow that became my hobby. But it’s also that I like to surprise him every week with something new. We live in a small apartment, and Ezra’s room is not only his place where he sleeps, but it’s also his playroom and much more. I think the same interior would not challenge him to play, discover, and fantasize as much as a hoe does now. I always try to make a theme he’s interested at the moment. I know to read his mind, and he has been happy with every change until now!
7. Of course, we are curious why did you choose Rafa-kids R toddler bed for your son and whether this choice was his or yours?
Like I already said above, we live small. Our living room is connected to Ezra’s place, and for me, it’s very important to have a nice view. 🙂 I chose Rafa first of course because of it’s looks. And just like my view on clothing, I loved the idea to “meet” the designers, feel their vision for design and quality and the fact that they choose quality over quantity. I see many competing brands in the market think otherwise. Unfortunately, you can see it is a quality of a product.
8. And lastly, could you reveal one of your guilty pleasures?
My guilty pleasure is definitely not a secret. I prefer buying stuff for Ezra more than for me! When I see something I like, I must find a way or an excuse to get it! It just makes me happy to see a cute kid dressed well.
THANK YOU you so much Sladjana for taking your time and sharing with us your story.
Would you like to you see more from Slodjana and Ezra life and get inspired by her playful pictures :

It is not often that you meet an artistic family that raises their child as part of their creative world. I’m glad to introduce to you this unique family from Zagreb and have a chance to have a little chat with Danijel.
