School holidays for our boys officially started this week.
I think for many of you, this may sound a little late, as we are mid-July. In The Netherlands, we have more free days during the school year, so that’s why the school’s summer break is starting now, and take six weeks. I think It’s a long time for parents who work. It’s always a bit of a struggle for us, but we are looking for the up-coming holidays for our little family.
We noticed that not only we need to recharge our batteries, but definitely, our kids look a bit tired and longing for the freedom of doing nothing. So far we are staying at home for a while and will take a break in August, escaping for three weeks to beautiful Portugal.
Those photos were taken on the beach close by The Hague, called Kijkduin Strand. It’s a lovely beach, very calm with not many visitors. You will find there just a few beach houses and restaurants where you can eat and get a drink, and a long relaxed cost line for walking.
We have a family tradition that around my birthday, which is in June we rent a little beach house and stay there for the weekend. It’s my favorite birthday present, and I would highly recommend it! Being by the sea relaxes me and let go of all the daily stress. I’m naturally putting away my iPhone, and don’t miss any internet or social media connection. I think for people who are running a business on the internet, it can be challenging to disconnect from online life completely. Do you find it challenging? Do you feel the pressure to continue delivering content on all your social media canals and connect with the world daily? Well, I’m learning more and more to understand that for my creativity and quality of life, I need to let this feeling go.
For this reason, I’m glad that summer is here and we can escape for a little while…
I’m aware of the fact that my kids grow in Rotterdam so this sort of experience is not an everyday possibility. That’s why I like to escape from the city from time to time.
Finland has a special place in our hearts because Rafa-kid’s furniture is made from quality Finnish plywood. This country is covered 65% by forests. What makes it unique are the cold nordic winters influencing the trees and give them special qualities.
We were lucky to take a deep breath and relax during the last days of 2021 in Norway. This trip gave our family a good energy boost, as we escaped into a Winter Paradise!
I have never been to Mexico before, so after a long flight, I had a hard time to adopt my eyes to the intense light. The warm breeze which grabbed me directly after I left a plane was heaven….
