Years ago, our son learned to walk by moving along a low cabinet. It was standing in our living room, and it was his favourite spot to play. This inspired us to create the latest Rafa-kids’s addition: H storage cabinet.
This low and long cabinet will be perfect for any crawling child who’ll be able to reach all the toys hidden inside. This can also help to prevent an entire home from turning into a toy tornado! So that’s why we designed these lovely sliding doors. They do not only take less space; it’s just so easy to use them. The two drawers are soft-closing. Safe to use for little hands. Rafa-kids thinks about all the little details while designing furniture for your children!
It’s a Storage and Bench in One!
And at last, the storage cabinet is built extra strong, so it’s prepared for kids climbing on top. Parents can sit on it, and the child can jump from the top, but only if mummy and daddy are around 😉 Get a book and snuggle up on top of the cabinet for a cosy read with your child.
Why it’s a good idea to create a play corner for your toddler :
I can imagine that not all of us have the extra room to create a playroom for a child. But if you have a spare room that no one use, I would advise you to turn it into the kids-playroom paradise! You can also dedicate a corner in the living room to give your toddler this personal space to play. I believe not only your child will benefit from it, but you also will! The play space will help your child learn independence, and you can be around too, giving them attention if needed.
Keep it clean > Keep it safe > Keep it Playful.
No matter what playroom design you decide to go with, comfort and ease of use are essential. Functionality and fun are necessary too! So when you try to find the perfect furniture, keep in mind these aspects.
Please look at the beautiful corner Yvonne from @misstiptop created for her kids. Can you point out all the elements that make this space so kid-friendly and playful? There is a low H storage cabinet, plenty of storage boxes, small and large pillows and puffs, round rugs, and an adorable tent! Perfect, right?
Tips to Create a Great Toddler Playroom :
1. Focus on Storage
Of course, we would like to have the playground well organised, so the toys will not fly around all over the house! I believe it’s essential to find a system or a way to teach your child to clean the mess after playing. In the begging, of course, you will need to do it with your child, but I’m sure they will slowly learn to do it themselves.
After Playing, it’s time to clean!
Inside any storage, it’s good to have storage boxes to make it easy to sort different types of things; It helps a lot!
You have plenty of choices regarding boxes: they can be transparent, carton or rattan, to name a few. The great idea is to put stickers on it – with drawings: blocks, animals, puzzles or games. Your children can learn this way how to organise their belongings. Rafa-kids H storage cabinet is low, so the child can easily reach all the toys and put them back. The top of the storage cabinet is like a long table, which can be used for playing too.
2. Make the floor comfortable.
Small kids spend hours playing on the floor. For this reason, please consider not only a soft, cosy rug but also playful elements like pillows, throws and pouffes. I created a small collection of this kind of accessories in the Rafa-kids store > have a look here :
They not only look great but are soft and safe for little kids.
3. Purchase items that grow with your kids.
I already told you that we did have the low cabinet in our living room, which was clean and straightforward, similar to our H storage cabinet. When you purchase furniture for your child, consider if this item can stay with your child for the following years. How would you use it differently, and for what?
Is this furniture easy to adopt for school or even teenage years? We buy toys regardless of the kid’s age as they grow and develop, but the furniture can last much longer if we make the right choices.
Please always check what kind of materials the furniture is made from and what type of guarantee you get, so you can be sure you can enjoy using it for years to come. Or even if you would like to sell it after some time, you can be sure it’s in good condition.
Here at Rafa-kids, we often receive messages from parents asking: why do we advise the F bunk bed for children +6 years old, and if it could be ok to use it for younger children too?
There is so many things you need to deal with when you live in one space with your siblings but as a long-term solution, I think room-sharing is something to be grateful for in life rather than try to avoid it.
