A few days ago, we visited a design fair organized by the Dutch magazine vtwonen. This magazine is not like any other magazine we know. vtwonen publishes a monthly glossy, but they also have their furniture and accessories collection, run a tv show, and once a year curate this fair. We find it a very inspiring and original concept. At the vtwonen &design beurs, you can see a few other dutch magazines stands, and of course, brands present their current Interior Design collections there.
Travel Loft House
Our favorite stand from the entire fair was the Travel Loft house, created by Liza Wassenaar for vtwonen. Imagine visiting a stand built like a whole house, including a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and a kid’s space! The idea of creating an entire house in one style is brilliant in our option. On the vtwonen &design beurs, you will also see places in other styles, but this one was the closest to our aesthetic.
Simply – I could move to this house straight away!
Living Room
The entire Interior Design of the house was kept in monochromatic colors. It’s a color palette from Beige to Black, with just a little touch of white. If we like to stay in such a limited range of colors in our interior, all the magic will be in shapes, forms and textures.
The house is called a Travel Loft house, which I assume means that is, filled with things brought from travels. I would say mainly Mexico, Africa, and maybe Latin countries. Many of them are from the beautiful store Couleurlocale. The owners collect unique items brought from travelling to exotic lands. It’s not only little baskets or vases but also furniture, like tables and chairs. You can see all the accessories here.
BOHO kitchen
As you can see, the kitchen is very minimalistic and modern in shape, with wooden fronts and dark stone tops. Try to imagine it without all these exotic, unique-shaped accessories! It would probably be a heavy-looking kitchen, but all the different shapes and textures give the kitchen life. For some people, it can be a bit too much of stuff, me included, but the entire vibe is something I like.
Loft Bed in Kids Space
I can tell you, that when we went inside this house and saw the kid’s part, it was just WOW.
Maybe because we design furniture for children at Rafa-kids, and don’t see things we like that often. A Black Loft bed was just amazing. The platform under is a bed and storage in one. Above they created a second bed, which is light and more transparent. Next to the bed was a desk, and also a robust wooden shelf, for toys and bedding The atmosphere was kept in brown and white accessories, fitting the entire style of hose. I love it!
I wish every kid’s space was part of the style of a modern house and not a separate department in a childish and kitschy style.
Custom-made furniture for kids
I think the furniture in those pictures was made custom, which is a good idea when you have non-standard rooms, or would like to have something more original for your children.
