Stylish homes with kids. Part 1 Family in Leiden
It’s time for a new series on the blog! – Stylish homes with kids.Â
I want to show you that we don’t need to sacrifice our love for decorating and style after having kids. We can still have a stylish home with kids around.
Today, we are travelling to Leiden to see the beautiful home of Wiola and Greg, their two kids, five cats, and a dog! You will be surprised to learn that Wiola is a scientist (immunolog) at her everyday job. Her Instagram account @rapsodia_w  was created from her passion for decorating home, which I believe is her talent. She has reached almost 700K followers!Â
Their home was featured in the Dutch VTwonen magazine in December 2023.Â
The family lives in an old Dutch house with lovely high ceilings, large windows, and original elements, which give it a very traditional character. Wiola adds modern furniture and accessories to this environment, creating a contrast that makes this space so interesting and playful.Â
” Wiola believes the interior is never ready or finished; it’s a constantly changing environment. She could change the colours of the walls every few months.”Â
This family home is minimal, as there is little furniture or accessories. The Wiola’s secret is to add interesting shapes and strong colours, which impact the interior—the eye candy for her followers. The contrast between white walls and black floors is also a great backdrop to play with shapes. We can’t forget the five cats enjoying super comfy sofas and carpets. Wiola created a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that is very inviting. I would love to lie with the cats in this sunny and light serra 😉 Art is always a personal choice but can also significantly impact any space. Again, she chooses bold and original statement pieces.
Wiola said:
” I am convinced it is always worth investing in an exceptional piece for every room. You can then build the rest of the interior around it.”Â
However, the kid’s room is a bit different from the rest of the house. Creating a cosy sleeping corner for a child can be challenging when you have high ceilings and large windows.Â
Painting the walls in colour helps a lot. Wiola went for a very natural, comforting green. It complements other natural colours like beige and wood. I personally love the combination of black floor and black F bunk bed!Â
It’s such a nice background for adding soft accessories: carpets, plaid and a green crocodile 😉Â
I love the black F bunk bed with the green wall and black floor. It created a very cosy sleeping corner for the boys.Â
Furniture from Rafa-kids in the kid’s room.
THANK YOU so much, Wiola for letting us share a bit of your life here.
We wish your family all the best.Â
